Nature’s Harvest® is celebrating Whole Grains Month with a Sandwich Art Photo Contest. From August 24th to September 6th, moms can visit the Nature’s Harvest® Facebook page to submit their sandwich art creations, using any of the Nature’s Harvest® bread varieties, all of which are baked with at least 8 grams of whole grains per serving. Celebrity chef and mom Kelsey Nixon will judge sandwich creations based on visual appeal, creativity and the incorporation of nutritious ingredients. The top 10 sandwich art semi-finalists will be posted to the Nature’s Harvest® Facebook page from September 14, 2015 to September 20, 2015 for fans to vote and winners will be revealed in mid-October. The grand prize winner will receive a “Kitchen Crash” from Kelsey Nixon where she will prepare sandwich-centric meals with the winner’s family and provide fun sandwich making tips the whole family can follow implement.

Idexx Laboratories, in Westbrook, Maine, is celebrating Whole Grains Month at each of their four venues. The bakeshop is promoting Whole Grain Wednesdays with a special breakfast and dessert recipes. They are also highlighting the whole grain menu items served by displaying these options near a whole grain poster. (See photo)

 

Murphy Middle School, in Augusta, Georgia, already serves whole grains regularly, but during Whole Grains Month, they are going to give students a little extra motivation. The cafeteria will display Whole Grain Posters, and will pass out buttons and stickers to the students. 

Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri is creating a large Whole Grains Month Bulletin Board to display in the hospital, and will be passing out whole grain promotional materials to their 1,600 employees to help spread the word. 

Richmond County Schools in Augusta, Georgia will be celebrating Whole Grains Month again this year by holding taste testings at many of their 56 schools, giving whole grain awards to students who participate in the taste tests, and distributing whole grain handouts and promotional materials to students. 

At ShopRite of Colonie (1730 Central Ave, Colonie, NY), Registered Dietitian Amy Imler is hosting an “In the Aisle” event for Whole Grains Month on Monday, September 14 at 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm. 

Framingham State University is celebrating Whole Grains Month in the dining halls. On Monday, September 28, their will be a “Guess the Grain” event in the dining commons. Also on that day, the Campus Dietitian’s table will be answering whole grain questions and offering samples of their new whole grain menu item, Twisted Terra. 

LifeStart Wellness Network’s Hamilton Lakes Athletic Club in Itasca, Illinois will be celebrating Whole Grains Month with a special whole grain event on Tuesday, September 15. There will be an educational poster display on “What is a Whole Grain” and “How to Eat More Whole Grains,” as well as cooking and bringing in some samples of whole grains.
