Our New Book: Whole Grains Around the World [1]
Sometimes don’t you wish you could just hop on a plane or boat and set out to travel the world, tasting all the delicious specialties that characterize each country or region?
When it comes to experiencing food traditions from around the world, we’re here to tell you that your own kitchen can unlock endless culinary adventures – no expensive plane tickets necessary.
Later this month, the Oldways Whole Grains Council is launching its new Whole Grains Around the World [2] book, a four-week menu-plan chock full of whole grain goodness and waiting to make its debut on your plate. Each week’s menu focuses on a different heritage diet – Mediterranean, African, Latin American, and Asian – and the whole grain dishes traditional to that pattern of eating. For home cooks who are already familiar with brown rice, whole wheat bread and oatmeal, this book offers you a fun way to expand your whole grain horizons.
Whether it’s teff and sorghum in Africa, bulgur and barley in the Mediterranean, rice and millet in Asia, or quinoa and corn in Latin America, whole grains are the backbone of cultures and cuisines all over the world. For more than twenty-five years, Oldways has been has been on mission to bring traditional foods, foodways and lifestyles – ones that are good for people and good for the planet – to people everywhere. With this new book we hope to inspire and encourage whole grain enthusiasts to pull out their skillets, knives, spatulas and saucepans, and get cooking. This menu plan has a little something for everyone!
