You can tell by the amount of work that goes into our conferences that we love what we do.  Our office hums with activity for weeks as we coordinate logistics, invite speakers, graciously accept sponsorships, and prepare to welcome attendees from all over the world to our conference city.  We type our little fingers off, gathering data and quotes and snippets of information, creating the best conference binder ever.  We spend hours on end proofing and editing and tweaking and designing, making every poster and visual as perfect as possible.  And of course, we coordinate with our chefs and our sponsors to make sure the food at every break and meal is delicious and bountiful.

Finally, finally, after all the i’s have been dotted (twice!) and the t’s have been counted and crossed… It’s time for the real work to begin!

Here at the WGC, it’s conference time once again.  About 150 people will be joining us in Alexandria, VA for our Make (at least!) Half Your Grains Whole conference, being held April 20-22 at the Westin Alexandria.  Our Boston office will lie quiet as we fly south for the excitement, the education, the food, and the opportunities for collaboration that draw attendees from every walk of life.  School foodservice directors will be able to tell manufacturers about their needs, and learn about the food-producers’ constraints, for example, and health professionals can meet with media representatives to discuss better ways to reach consumers with health messages.  We’ve got some exciting new information to share, and some amazing speakers lined up.

This time, even if you can’t physically join us in Alexandria, you can still share in the events by following us on Twitter.  Our Social Media Manager Alison Clancy will be Tweeting throughout the conference, keeping everyone in the loop.  Follow us on Twitter at OldwaysPT.  If you Tweet about the Whole Grains Conference, make sure you include #wgc in your Tweet so that we can keep track of the conversation.

See you on the flip side!  (Kara)
