Our Commitment To Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available under About Us on our homepage.
The Information We Collect and How We Use It
This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the Whole Grains Council website and offline. We collect information from two groups: companies that apply to join the Whole Grains Council, and non-members who would like to sign up for newsletters, enter contests, or otherwise take advantage of the educational services of our non-profit organization. In both cases, only information submitted voluntarily is collected.
From our members (donors), we collect information including…
• Name, address, email, phone, and fax of main contact
• Email addresses of company colleagues who should receive the WGC member newsletter
• Company size and website address
• Information about the company’s products, grains, and markets
This information is used to process memberships, to communicate with members about WGC business, and to enable members to participate in media requests (if desired).
From non-members, we collect information including…
• Name, address, email and other contact information
• Contest- or program-specific information
This information is used for the purpose specified (e.g. newsletters, contest, etc.), and may also be used to notify you of related opportunities from the Whole Grains Council.
Personally identifiable information may only be obtained through lawful means.
The purposes for which personally identifiable data are collected shall be specified at or prior to the time of collection, and any subsequent use of the data shall be limited to and consistent with the fulfillment of those purposes previously specified.
Personal data WILL not be disclosed, made available, or otherwise used for a purpose other than those specified, except with the consent of the subject of the data, or as required by law or regulation.
Personal data collected shall be relevant to the purpose for which it is needed.
The general means by which personal data is protected against loss, unauthorized access, use, modification, or disclosure shall be posted, unless the disclosure of those general means would compromise legitimate agency objectives or law enforcement purposes.
We never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.
You may also visit our website anonymously, as most visitors do.
Our Commitment To Data Security
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
How You Can Access Or Correct Your Information
WGC members can access all their personally identifiable information that we collect and maintain online by logging in with their company password, and editing their Member Profile.
Subscribers to our WGC “Just Ask for Whole Grains” newsletter can update their contact information through the links at the bottom of each monthly Constant Contact email; they can also opt out of future emails through this feature.
