We’ve soldiered through the lunch rush at Sweetgreen to snag our ‘Spicy Sabzi’ salads with quinoa and ‘Hello Portobello’ wild rice bowls. We’ve biked across the Charles to taste Little Donkey’s farro and kimchi fried rice with egg, scallion, bean sprouts, Thai herbs, and green curry. And we’ve braved the dreaded MBTA ‘Silver Line’ in Boston to sample Baklava oatmeal with toasted walnuts, Kalamata figs, honey, and shredded phyllo at Committee. Creatively menued whole grains are our passion, and we’ve scoured every nook and cranny of Boston to sample the best of the best.

Luckily, whole grains in restaurants are becoming more and more common, making it easier every day to get your daily fix of this fabulous food group. From fast casual spots to James Beard nominated restaurants, whole grains are making their way onto some of the trendiest menus around the country. In celebration of Whole Grains Month this September, we’re taking to Instagram to spotlight the creative things chefs are doing with whole grains, and the surprising places that we can all find whole grains away from home. We’ll be sharing our favorites, and we’d love for you to join us using the hashtag #spotwholegrains!

Participants who follow @oldways_pt on Instagram and share where they #spotwholegrains away from home will have a chance to win a $100 gift card to a restaurant that serves whole grains (such as California Pizza Kitchen, Pret a Manger, Subway, or Maggiano’s Little Italy) as well as a whole grain cookbook. To learn more about the Instagram contest, including prizes and official rules, see here.

In addition to our Instagram contest, we’ll also be sneaking whole grain coupons into all Oldways webstore orders placed during the month of September.  (Kelly)
