Whole Grains Sampling Day

Whole Grain Sampling Day has always been a day to try healthy whole grains and learn a little more about these nutrient-packed ingredients. As always, we’ll be sharing tips, facts, and recipes online all day, and saluting whole grains and all the flavors and health benefits they offer.

In past years, tasting events have taken place across the country in hundreds of locations. However, this year is unlike any other we have experienced, and with many of our partner organizations temporarily closing their offices or campuses out of concern for COVID-19, we know that many of the 2020 Whole Grain Sampling Day events that have been organized may be cancelled or postponed. In light of this, we’re transitioning to a more virtual celebration and we invite each and every one of you to join us online!

2020 Whole Grain Challenge

In the spirit of virtual festivities, we’re challenging you to choose one of the following three whole grain recipes to make and enjoy on Wednesday, March 25. Take pictures of your delicious creations and post them on social media—Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter—using #SampleWholeGrains so that we can all admire the results! Comment, “like,” and ask questions on our posts, too. Let’s talk about whole grains!

Level 1: Lemon-Garlic Bean Spread with Whole Grain Crackers or Bread

Got a lot of beans in your pantry right now? Use this super simple recipe to throw together a quick, healthy, flavorful snack!

Butter Bean Hummus

Level 2: Whole Grain Blueberry Muffins

Cooking and baking with your kids is a great way to keep them entertained and pass along wonderful life skills. If you can’t get your hands on fresh blueberries right now, frozen ones work just as well.

Blueberry Muffins Oldway

Level 3: Mix ‘n Match Mediterranean Grain Salad

This recipe is meant to be adapted to whatever ingredients you have available. Don’t like olives but think your can of artichoke hearts would be great in it? Think it would be even better with some peas? We welcome all your creative modifications!

While we are practicing social distancing, we hope Whole Grain Sampling Day still creates an opportunity to bring us together!  We look forward to seeing you online.

Hi Ericka -- You can post your pictures to any social media platform: Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook. This is just a fun way to celebrate Whole Grain Sampling Day, and be inspired by everyone's delicious creations. There is no winning or losing, so don't worry! If you're not on social media, you're still very much welcome to participate in your own kitchen and enjoy a great, whole grain meal at the end of it.

How do I enter on FB?

Hi Tersesa -- It's easy to participate on Facebook. Just upload an image of the dish you made and include #SampleWholeGrains in your description of the picture! This isn't a contest so there's no winning or losing. It's all about having fun and showing each other our delicious whole grain meals!

Thank you for providing the list of contact people for supplying free whole grain samples for our employees. I got a 50% response rate from what you gave me. We had to set it up much differently than we planned but had a lovely display for our employees to choose from. I will look for your email and send you a picture. I will try to reach out to you sooner next year for contacts in the hopes of getting a better response rate. Thanks again!

Thanks for being so flexible with your plans despite quickly changing circumstances! We're so happy you got to spread the word about whole grains, even if it was a little earlier than planned. Thanks again for your partnership! Looking forward to next year.
