As all our faithful followers know, September is Whole Grains Month! It’s a time to give some love to our favorite grains and celebrate all that they do for our bodies, our recipes, and our enviornment. Whether it’s overnight oats for busy mornings, a cozy pot of chili served with whole grain cornbread, or popcorn during movie night, whole grains show up in delicious ways all year round, from morning to night. This September, we’re shining a spotlight on these nutrient-packed powerhouses and inviting you to join the fun. Think of it as your excuse to try a new recipe, discover a grain you’ve never cooked with before, or simply give yourself credit for the tasty whole grain choices you’re already making.
There are so many ways to get in the whole grain spirit and celebrate right along with us. Here are three ways you can participate:
#1: Join our daily whole grain contest!
Each week in September, we’ll be asking you to participate in a variety of activities that encourage you to try new whole grain products and dishes, and learn more about the culinary, nutritional, and environmental benefits of whole grains. Every week you’ll also have the chance to nominate a favorite food charity for a chance to win whole grain products donated by our generous member companies, plus every Whole Grain Challenge participant will have a chance to take home a $100 cash prize — one of six that we’ll be giving away!
We invite you to follow us on social media so you can enter the challenge each week and learn about fresh recipes, cooking tips, and little-known facts about all your favorite whole grains throughout the month.

#2: Have fun learning about whole grains and trying new recipes
Whether you’re taking our whole grain personality quiz or starting to expand your whole grain repetoire using some of our favorite recipes, we’ve got all kinds of fun ways to celebrate the Whole Grains Month holiday. Here’s a month’s worth of easy whole grain ideas to get you started:
#3: Spread the word on social media
We hope you’ll join us on social media and help spread the word. Tell your followers about our contest, post pictures of your favorite whole grain foods and dishes, and tell us what you like most about eating whole grains. You can even download and use one of our cute Whole Grains Month graphics. Tag us on Instagram @wholegrains_council and use #WholeGrainsMonth so we can interact with your post!
